The story of "Messiah Project" that has been spun into a variety of media, from a drama to stage plays and movies. The movie Messiah - Shinku no Shou will be released to the public from October 17th (Saturday) has the development of the fate of the Sakura cadets that appeared in the drama version that we have anxiously been looking forward to. It can't be overlooked. During the filming of the movie, we heard of the relationships between the four people who are now playing a central part in the movie.
Changing relationships with the ever unchanging Messiah
First of all, now it's gotten noisy and suspenseful with the lifting of the information ban on the movie's premiere, please let us hear about Kagami, played by Taishi Sugie-san.
Sugie: I think that at first everyone was worried, like "Where is Mamiya?!"
Izawa: My Messiah....
Akazawa: Those events were shown in the stage play Messiah - Hagane no Shou in September.
Sugie: In the same stage play the character I play was revealed, Kagami who becomes a spy and starts training as a Sakura. He's the nephew of one of the high-ranked people in Church. As a cheeky cadet, he makes a rude entrance between everyone else!
Izawa: Since we haven't met Kagami in the stage play, the movie is the first time we meet.
As to the timeline, in February the drama Eisei no Shou was broadcast, in May there was the performance of the stage play Hisui no Shou, in September the continuation Hagane no Shou was staged, and now there's the movie Shinku no Shou.. That's the course of events, right.
Akazawa: That's right. In Hagane no Shou, only Mamiya met Kagami.
Sugie: Yes. In the footsteps of Mamiya, whose feelings Ariga played by Izawa-kun is carefully holding onto, Kagami suddenly appears.
Izawa: Since Ariga is the type who puts carrying out a mission before his own feelings, he gives a clear explanation as to Kagami on the surface. But there's still a part of him that's thinking about Mamiya. Although Kagami is still giving him a hard time...
Sugie: In the stage play it becomes clear that Ariga thinks a Messiah is an irreplacable existence. But since after that a person appears who's the type that doesn't need a Messiah, there's the matter of how that's going to end up.
And the relationship between Shirasaki played by Akazawa-san and Yuuri played by Hirose-san?
Akazawa: We're stable. (laughs) But since they know that Mamiya was Ariga's previous Messiah, I think there's places where they're wavering about Kagami, who just joined.
Hirose: Since the relationship between those two doesn't change, there aren't any problems.
What impressions did filming the movie leave on you?
Akazawa: Mostly just how hot it was! The material of the long clothes don't let the wind pass through, and we're completely covered because of the gloves. (laughs) We also went to film in those coats in downtown Shinjuku.
Izawa: I was recognized, "they're filming Messiah!!" (laughs)
Hirose: And the barber shop we used for the filming was a really cool place.
Akazawa: Right! It was a wooden kind of retro house.
Hirose: It was also a beauty parlor with a very fresh kind of menu. After that.. somehow Taishi seemed different.
Akazawa: Yeah. Daisuke was also different, but Taishi might have been different too.
Sugie: Although I don't think about it myself, I've been told that often.
Hirose: Really, huh... Maybe it's something about me. Is it anything I've said?
Akazawa: Maybe it's timing. It's amusing when your unexpected timing is at work. You do things at your own pace.
Sugie: I've been able to see that quite a lot!
Hirose: You caught sight of it!
Everyone: (laughs)
Akazawa: Taishi and Yuuki don't seem the same age.
Sugie: Although Yuuki-kun initially told me "Since we're the same age, it's fine to speak informally," it didn't feel right at all if I didn't use honorifics! Only recently I've started speaking informally.
Hirose: Yuuki certainly seems a lot older.
Izawa: It's only a one year difference with Dai-chan, huh.
Hirose: Don't call me Dai-chan!
Akazawa: It's since you're my Messiah!
Izawa: Eh, suddenly? Then.. Dai, Daisu-kun. (note: it's in katakana, so you can also read it as "dice.")
Hirose: Daisu-kun?!
Sugie: It fits. (laughs) But Yuuki-kun is really good at reducing the sense of distance.
Izawa: But we weren't this close from the beginning. Wasn't it about when we finished filming?
Akazawa: Probably. I think our relationship was completely different between when we were filming and now. Yuuki had a really cool sort of image about him, it felt like he didn't open his heart a whole lot.
Izawa: Tomoru-kun introduced me to app games, we started playing those together.
Sugie: When I joined I also got recommended stuff, like "did you play this one? Did you play it?" so I started to play it. It were great recommendations.
Izawa: But the person who recommended it quit before us. (laughs) Even though I had been paying for his in-game purchases until now...
Akazawa: (laughs) But I generally get those recommended by Daisuke first.
Sugie: Eh! Is that so?!
Hirose: It's actually like that.
Akazawa: Daisuke also knows the pin code to my cellphone.
Izawa: He knows mine too.
Akazawa: But my way is amazing!
Izawa: I wasn't intending on competing with you. (laughs)
Akazawa: No, here is where it comes together! When I put my phone away while I'm sleeping, Daisuke gets ahead in the games for me without me knowing.
Everyone: (laughs)
Akazawa: Although I changed my cell phone's pin code a while ago, I naturally told Daisuke my new one. We have that kind of trust between us!
Sugie: I see~.
Hirose: No, since we both have very simple pin codes, it's easy to remember them when we tell each other those.
Izawa: Eh, but I was asked "what's your pin code?"
Sugie: Straight up!
Izawa: Although I thought "eh?!", I felt too guilty to hide it.. (laughs)
Akazawa: But you kept your privacy, right? We didn't open your LINE or anything.
Izawa: That's right.
Sugie: My cellphone's pin code is still safe.
Hirose: I feel like we shouldn't find out what's on Taishi's cellphone...
Akazawa: It's like Pandora's Box.
Sugie: There aren't any strange things on it!
Since your good friendship has shown by now (laughs), please tell us what your Messiah is to you.
Hirose: As expected, Tomoru-kun is indispensable.
Akazawa: You can't even think about it the tiniest bit?
Izawa: That's the truth. Because he said that even when Tomoru-kun wasn't around.
Hirose: Ah? Is that so?
Izawa: It's around the time we did a stage play together before. Although we're together quite a bit now, back then we were together almost every day. And since I thought we had built up a pretty good friendship, when we had an interview and there was a question like "who's your partner?", I thought you would say, "Izawa Yuuki." And while I was somehow trying to think of various reactions, he immediately answered "Tomoru-kun!" instead.....

Hirose: But that was a while ago.
Akazawa: You wouldn't say it differently now!
Hirose: But when you're not there when we're working on Messiah, it gets tiresome.
Akazawa: Ah, I'm glad.
Hirose: .. that's such a business comment.
Akazawa: Please cut out that last part! But I wonder about me and Daisuke. I'm the type who, when I'm one on one with someone, when the silence lasts starts thinking "I wonder if they want to go home now?" I'm actually quite bad at being together with just two people. But it's completely fine when Daisuke doesn't talk. It can calm me down, he's an important person to me.
Izawa: After that, my answer will look bad!
Everyone: (laughs)
Sugie: The hurdle...
Izawa: I'll say it after Taishi.
Akazawa: How cunning. (laughs)
Sugie: Hm, well then, I'll do it without this guy! For me it's a meal of cooked rice and sugar.
Izawa: .....
Sugie: After all, isn't it amazing? It's freshly cooked in just two minutes. So that's my kind of Japanese food Messiah.
Hirose: I have to say it has a good feeling when you put it that way...
Sugie: Yes, I lowered the hurdle!
Akazawa: I get it, it was for Yuuki's sake. How kind!
Izawa: Er, well, then as for me... since I became Messiah with this guy in the movie, we came together like a meal of rice and sugar. Ah, I made a mistake. Sugar and rice came together to become a meal.
Sugie: That's the answer I gave just now...
Izawa: For me it's really like this. (wry smile) Yes, my Messiah is a meal! It's the feeling of two people wanting to become one!

Izawa: Although there's of course us Messiah, since people from other organisations also manage to reach a good feeling after struggling, I think there's the sense of reaching a goal. I think that if people who saw the drama and the stage plays go watch the movie, they'll be able to enjoy the feeling of all the puzzle pieces fitting together!
Akazawa: Although most Messiah have to build up a relationship after they enter Church, since Shirasaki and Yuuri were already together before they entered Church, there's a bond from the beginning. That's why, whether there's a sense of stability or not, I think you'll be able to watch it with relief. I'm happy that you'll be able to see what ends up happening with Shiraki's partner from his former organisation.
Hirose: I think Church's CG ornaments is one of the many charms that are unique to the movie. Since the staff pays a lot of attention to details, I think you'll be able to appreciate the small things on the big screen. Aside from that, it's alright because of what Tomoru-kun said!
Sugie: I personally want you to look the most at the feelings Ariga is burdened with as well as Kagami's growth. Since I think the action in the last scene is really cool, please look forward to it!
