( stage report akatsuki no toki for messiah - illip february 13th 2017 )
"The deep bonds of lonely men," "Action where beauty and force coexists," "Actors' passionate acting"... A period of two hours where you can't take your eyes off it once you lay eyes on it for the first time! Stage play "Messiah - Akatsuki no Toki" opening
On Saturday February 11th 2017 the stage play "Messiah - Akatsuki no Koku", in which Akazawa Tomoru, Izawa Yuuki, Sugie Taishi etc. appear, had its first performance.

Messiah Project is a media project consisting of novels, drama CDs, live-action movies, stage plays, etc., which started in 2010. It turned into a series due to its great popularity.
The stage play versions started in 2013, this installment is the sixth part in that series. Until now actors like Matsuda Ryo, Ota Motohiro and Someya Toshiyuki have starred in them.
The setting of this series is a world in which the Cold War-like state of the world continues, Japan from another world. A security bureau established in the police department, special public safety section 5. The spies that belong to it, called Sakura due to their pure way of dying, and the Sakura cadets that are gathered at "Church" to train to become Sakura, are given a partner, the only person they can trust in a world in which lies and treachery runs rampant. That is their "Messiah", just like appears in the main title.
The story this time centers around the Sakura cadet Shirasaki Mamoru, played by Akazawa Tomoru. While Shirasaki is worried about the sudden disappearance of his Messiah, the genius hacker Yuuri Kaito, he is given his graduation mission. But during the mission a strange situation occurs where corpses end up attacking Shirasaki and the others. The words they end up hearing are: "Beware the Necromancer."
At the same time the Church's systems are hacked. The identity of the hacker is an AI (artificial intelligence) called "Necromancer". Who is the culprit that created Necromancer, for what reason was it done, and how is it related to Yuuri Kaito who disappeared? Shirasaki tries to find out the truth behind the mystery of these events while looking for his absolutely incomparable Messiah Yuuri.
Although it's a series, you can easily enter the world of Messiah with this installment alone and figure things out, you can even enjoy the beginning well enough.
Since mysteries with movie levels of suspense start to pop up everywhere at first, you won't get tired of watching during the about two hour long performance. Why did Yuuri Kaito disappear? And where is he now? Who is the culprit that made Necromancer, which doesn't threaten just Japan, but the entire world? And how will the people of Church fight against this threat? You can't take your eyes off it for even a moment near the end.

A projector is heavily used, rendering you able to enjoy the near future-like feeling that Messiah has to your heart's content.

Shirasaki will act to find Yuuri Kaito, even though he's been given a graduation mission...

Although various mysteries pop up as points, everything ends up being connected by a line...

And as the story moves towards the second half, there are even more moving scenes that you can't miss out on. As the truth is revealed, you can see the characters' kindness and the feelings for their partners that had been hidden. When I noticed that warmth and purity, I instinctively teared up. And the lines that are repeated by Ichijima in the play, which echo after you've seen the play with the title "Akatsuki no Toki" (note, it means as much as the moment/time of the dawn) leave a nice afterglow.

On the right: Ichijima

Akazawa Tomoru plays Shirasaki who still believes in his Messiah Yuuri Kaito, even though he's forced to fight by himself this time.

And Kagami Itsuki (played by Sugie Taishi) who has become Ariga Ryo's (played by Izawa Yuuki) Messiah bewitches the audience with realistic acting during a scene that confirms the deep bond between them as they go through a mission during which their lives are put on the line.

As was reported in the report about the dress rehearsal from a few days ago, Sugie Taishi said that the world they're building collapses if even one person slacks off and that they all can't be at ease while acting. The emotions and thoughts in actors' performance seem like they sting. Sugie who shows crazy eyes filled with hatred, Akazawa's eyes that get cloudy with overwhelming emotions, not to mention Izawa, who even though he's silent still shows his pain over past events... Since all of the performers' passion and emotional attachment to this work is so great, you can't miss the figures that are shown with even more spirit then usually.

Shirasaki who persues his absolute Messiah Yuuri.
What kind of ending is awaiting them, will they graduate?
Shirasaki's strong feelings for Yuuri are conveyed so strongly that it'll move your heart even if you've never seen the series before.

Ariga (on the right), who had to kill his own Messiah last time. His suffering figure is bloodcurling, showing how that incident has affected him.

Kagami faces a certain event from his past.
Although he usually is aloof, when he confronts it, he shows a terrific drive. His body transmits such an enormous emotional energy that the tension even runs through the audience.

The thing that has the best reputation among the series' fans, the impressive battle scenes, is represented plenty this time around as well. Akazawa and the other Church members give a live experience of agile and cool-looking action, your heart will surely pound while you enjoy it. Since it has a certain violent beauty to it, you almost get possessed while enjoying the action.

Lonely men that live in a heartless world. I hope that you for sure will once again enjoy the story of the deep bonds they show.
