Izawa Yuuki x Wada Masanari's lovey-dovey talk, "Masa-kun gives me that 'as expected, I really like him~' kind of feeling"
The talk with actors who shine on the stage but are really close when you meet them (or see them) for real, the "live meet ikemen talk," the series commonly known as "Live ike talk."
For the third round Izawa Yuuki-san named Wada Masanari-san! Please enjoy the talk you can only find here in full.
*In this article we've published the dialogue we couldn't put in Weekly Josei-san (the February 21st 2017 issue). If you want to read more, please check out the magazine too!

How did you get closer?
Izawa: During the practice for the stage play Osomatsu-san on STAGE ~ SIX MEN'S SHOW TIME~.
Wada: Yeah. Among the F6 Yuuki towers above the rest when it comes to singing and dancing. So when we were being taught, there were parts that I couldn't keep up with. Sometimes we would each individually practice singing and dancing, and since there were some people who couldn't always make it to practice, so the difference in level really showed.
At that time Yuuki asked if he could talk to me one on one, and then he asked me what the best thing to do was to make everyone in F6 improve. When we talked about that sort of thing with the two of us, I came to like him more. "Instead of thinking overall about how to do better, you need to have passion." At first I didn't get that sort of feeling from him at all. He gave off more of a cool impression.
Izawa: But I'm not that cool at all.
Wada: Yeah. (laughs) So since I still remember that time really well even now, the two of us talking in a corner of the practice hall...
Izawa: Ah~ That's right.
Why did you choose Wada-san?
Wada: Isn't it just because I happened to be there? (laughs)
Izawa: No, that's not the case. (laughs) I thought that everyone's thoughts about this production were plentiful and strong. I thought about what kind of good things we as the F6, who aren't as popular among the Osomatsu-san characters as the sextuplets, could show off to give the audience a good time.
I talked to Masa-kun and Asato Yuya who seemed to think in a similar way to that. Those two simply carried along the F6 very well. Although I had the role of the oldest son, Masa-kun was very much like an eldest son instead, so I simply relied on him. He also became a bit of a mood maker.
What kind of things do you guys get excited about when you talk about stuff you like?
Wada: Back then we kept talking about One Piece.
Izawa: That's right~.
Wada: When we went to eat at the okonomiyaki shop that Yuuki's parents own with the F6 (Izawa, Wada, Asato, Ono Kento, Wago Shinichi, Nakayama Yuki), Yuuki and I arrived earlier. We talked about One Piece, which we both like, for about two hours. About which scenes we liked, stuff like that.
Izawa: Yes, we both asked each other questions.
Wada: "Remember that one line?" It was that kind of feeling that we were terrible maniacs about it, we got so excited. Aside from that, there's a lot of stories about the F6.
Did you often go to eat with the F6?
Izawa: We say stuff like that we should get together when we have some spare time.
Wada: That's right.
Izawa: Everyone really is close.
What was it like when you guys gathered at the okonomiyaki shop?
Izawa: Since we were constantly together every day from practice until the performances, it felt like it had been a long time ago, even though it had only been about a week since the performances ended.
Wada: Yeah, that's right.
Izawa: It really was an amazing gathering. (laughs) Although we'd had been together the whole time, we still had various things to talk about, and we did the usual things like playing card games. We even did it at my family's restaurant. (laughs)
Wada: It's a good place to go to.
Don't the F6 members share love stories and the like?
Wada: There aren't any love stories. Ah! But everyone watched Ono Kento's "Last Kiss".
Izawa: That's right!
Wada: The six of us were sitting in Yuuki's room while watching it. (laughs)
Izawa: Well, it was fun~.
Wada: Yeah. But thinking of it, maybe we haven't had any love stories at all.
Then you don't know at all what each other's ideal type is?
Wada: That's right. That's why I was surprised when I heard Yuuki answer a particular question with "I like it when hair is brushed up." I thought he was talking about me.
What do you think each other's type is like?
Wada: Well~. For some reason I think that Yuuki likes people who aren't very typically Japanese. For example a biracial person. He likes people whose feelings are just a little bit different from most people. Maybe.
Izawa: Maybe, that might be so.
Wada: You wouldn't be satisfied with a normal person!
Izawa: What's that? (laughs) What am I like to you? (laughs)
Wada: Although there's of course people as well who think that Japanese people are beautiful as well. For some reason Yuuki just gets worked up when he sees a biracial person. (laughs)
Izawa: Ahaha. It does quite suit me. (laughs)

What kind of type do you think Wada-san likes?
Izawa: I think he might like the spoiled princess type.
Wada: Oh~!
Izawa: Although I think it's no good if she acts like that outside. But when Masa-kun comes home and gets rid of all of his tension, I think he'd like a spoiled girl at a moment like that.
Wada: That's for sure.
Izawa: Really?
Wada: It's kind of right. Although I really like getting spoiled... Yuuki is even more spoiled.
Izawa: That's right. (laughs)
Wada: For real, Yuki is getting spoiled.
In what way?
Wada: There's so much skinship. I'm the skinship prince. (laughs)
Would a fawning girl be fine then?
Wada: I'd really like it.
Do you have a type looks-wise?
Wada: Hmm, I often like people that laugh a lot. People to laugh together with would be nice. Even if they're not interested, I like people who still ask "what are you doing now?" It's fine even if you ignore the rest of it.
Izawa: Ah, I understand. I really understand.
Wada: I like that kind of people.
Izawa: I think that suits you. That's why it might be a mature person to some extent... Maybe someone who's older than Masa-kun and who shows a gap when they act like a spoiled princess, and who lets it pass when he says weird things would really suit him a lot.
Can you imagine what it would be like if the other had a girlfriend?
Wada: I can imagine it very well. Right now Yuuki is the best. But if he didn't have any work going on and could just go walk around with a girl, he'd be even better. (laughs) If it were me, I wouldn't even look at her if we were walking side by side. But I think that person would receive tons of love. (looking at Izawa-san's expression) What's up? (laughs)
Izawa: Did I say something to you?
Wada: No, it's showing up on your face? (laughs) Everyone from the F6 would probably say this.
Izawa: Really? (laughs)
Wada: Yeah, really. It shows up really well (laughs), since Yuuki is honest, he really isn't two faced at all.
Although he's silent. (laughs)
Wada: Ahahahahaha!
Izawa: Well, that's right~. I was really surprised. It stabbed right through me!
What would it be like if Wada-san fell in love?
Izawa: He might hate it since it'd disturb his own pace. I think that counts for him as an actor, and it'd also count when it comes to a girl. That's why I think there might be some sense of distance. I feel like he would be able to seperate his work and private things very well. I'm the type who would make time even during performances. But Masa-kun doesn't seem to do that as much.
Is he the type that would go out with someone who understands it if they can't meet up sometimes?
Izawa: I think so. Although I think his feelings for her would be amazing. Wouldn't you fall in love quietly?
Wada: What Yuuki is saying fits me. But I would really like them, probably after hanging out with them a lot. But my work has a pretty high position in my life.
Of course I think love is important as well, but even though it can't really be ranked, if there's any hindrance to your work because that person is in your life, then I think you shouldn't go on with it. At that moment it should take the priority. It would be the best if both sides were good; if I could work well while going out with someone well. That's why I think I want to put both on the first place.
Since you two are close, are there surprising aspects of each other that you know about?
Wada: It might be that he's childish. I don't think there are a lot of people who can show that sort of innocence. (laughs)
Izawa: Ahahahaha!
Wada: People want to be more or less mature, right? But even when I feel bitter when I lose at a card game, I'm surprised by his innocent childishness. I thought it was great to be spoiled like that. You didn't make fun of me! Understand?
Izawa: (laughs) Yeah, I understand.
Although you're both men, it's the kind of feeling where you think he's cute?
Wada: Yeah, I thought he was cute. That was very surprising.

What's surprising about Wada-san?
Izawa: Surprising, huh... Although he gives off an impressive sort of feeling while he's talking... Something else seemed to pop up. Well, what was it?
Wada: It's alright, it must have been a surprisingly cool side of me. (laughs)
Izawa: That isn't surprising, I've already seen it. (laughs)
Wada: Ahahahaha!
Izawa: I'll say it when I remember it.
In what ways do you respect each other as actors then?
Wada: I said this earlier too, but even though Yuuki is someone who can really dance and sing, it doesn't stop just there. He looks ahead. When you see someone like that, you really feel encouraged as well. I can respect how he always firmly looks ahead, no matter whether it's at practice or at the performances.
Izawa: Although I think that everyone was stoic in their own way, I think that among the F6 Masa-kun really stood head and shoulders above the rest. Aside from that he's also really professional. Even when we go out to drink, he doesn't stay up late since he's thinking about how you have to let your body rest in order to give the best performance. His attitude towards practice and the performances, and his feelings of gratitude towards the staff... I respect him both as an actor and as a person.
What do you two want to do together in private?
Wada: I'd like to go shopping.
Izawa: Shopping would be good. I'd like to go~.
Wada: Yuuki is really fashionable. Since he's incredibly obsessed with accessoires, I wonder what kind of places he goes to to shop and with what kind of sense he buys clothes.
Izawa: Masa-kun is super good at bowling. It's another unexpected side to him that I couldn't think of earlier. How high is your high score?
Wada: My high score is about 280. For a while I was trying to become a professional. I did it every day when I was a first year in high school.
Izawa: That's why I'd like you to teach me stuff about bowling. I'm really bad at ball games.
Wada: Ah, that's also an unexpected side to Yuuki.
And finally, what are you two to each other?
Izawa: He gives me that 'as expected, I really like him~' kind of feeling. It's the reason I chose Masa-kun as my partner for this interview too, I just simply like him a lot. During Osomatsu-san we shared joy and sorrow together, he was a special comrade in arms that discussed a lot of things with me, so I thought he was good. This is the first time we're having this sort of conversation with just the two of us, and although I was wondering what it'd feel like, I ended up liking it a lot.
Wada: Fufufu.
Izawa: I want to see how he'll do as the first player, and I'd like to join him again. Although we're rivals as fellow actors, in private he's just my friend. I hope that we'll do a lot of fun things together as well in the future.
Wada: Although Yuuki said it was well, I think I would like to see him all the time now. I want to go see the plays that he is part of, even though I of course also want to do it together. I get a really strong feeling that I'll do my best or that I won't lose if there's someone above me. Yuuki inspires me in that regard. If he is doing this, then it's no good if I don't do that, that seems like what actors would feel.
Izawa: I'm glad!

Special Q&A (Izawa Yuuki edition)
What kind of animal would you compare Wada-san to?
Izawa: Hmm. What is a freespirited animal? Although I don't think he's a moody type like a cat, he's a person that absolutely doesn't let his own pace be thrown off. What is it... Please wait a moment. An animal with its own pace... (Searching on his smartphone) When I'm looking it up, it seems to say a hippo. (Wada: It's alright if you say a hippo. (laughs))
Ah! A dolphin! Aside from not letting his own pace be thrown off, he doesn't seem like he's a type that's shy when it comes to socializing. Even during Osomatsu-san he was able to talk with anyone and he was always the center of every talk. Dolphins like humans and get closer to them, right? (laughs) A friendly sort of feeling. That's why it's a dolphin.
What are the things you are thankful for that you haven't told Wada-san about?
Izawa: That he's always providing laughter. (Wada: (laughs) That's because of those kind of lines!) It's a Kansai man, a mood maker. The one that summons laughter even among Osomatsu-san's F6 is said to be Wada Masanari. (laughs) Although there was a lot of pressure since it's such a popular series, my heart was comforted a lot by the fact that Masa-kun went for it together with me. I was able to relax.
What is your favourite part of female behaviour?
Izawa: Um, if I had to say it very simply, I like it when they brush their hair or tie it up. Is hair not the weapon of women? That feminine gesture makes my heart pound as a man.
What sticker do you often use on LINE?
Izawa: I like stickers that make fun of people. "Misawa of Hell" for example, or series with cartoon-character costumes whose eyes don't laugh. Recently there's one with my name, "Yuu-chan", so I tried using that one. But I don't use it all that often.
What are you particular over when it comes to daily necessities?
Izawa: It's something that I got from one of my senpai a little while ago, a body spray that I like from the brand Aseop. Although there are many other shampoos and body soaps, this one has a forest-like scent to it, which is something I've always liked. It's a fragrance that women could put on as well, I think for sure that anyone would say it's a nice smell. Since it feels a little like aroma oil, you could put it on and relax. Right now I'm really into it.
What do you want the most right now?
Izawa: Mountain climbing goods. I want to climb Mount Fuji. Although I've already thought that I wanted to go and do that for a long time, I haven't been able to really go yet. Mount Fuji has four courses, one of them being a course that only advanced mountain climbers take. That's why I thought I wanted to go and do that most difficult course to train. I thought that when I would climb the course and reach the summit, I'd eat rice balls that I bought from the convenience store. Although it's just rice balls from the convenience store, I thought they might taste really good. I want to climb like that this year!
